Week 4, Day 2:

My first guided floral arrangement.  I love the purple anemones.  Also included are stock, lisianthus, Israeli ruscus, and lily grass.  The leaf wrap is made from aspidistra.

Week 3, Day 3:

I made my arrangement, but I am waiting to see how it looks once the lilies open.  Plus, I decorated a curly willow.

Week 2, Day 5:

Today I managed to get some natural light for my photos.  The latest arrangement is a bouquet of Viburnum tinus 'Gwenllian.'   This shrub blooms in winter with off-white clusters of flowers that come from dark pink buds.  I tried to create a round shape to match the vase by picking one stem as the center and then adding the other stems around it.  I then secured it with tape.  The cherry blossom pattern handkerchief was a lucky find at a thrift store for 99 cents.

Week 2, Day 4:

My apprenticeship is going really well.  I am learning all sorts of new things.  For example, I learned how to make decorative packaging for a single rose, and how to fold aspidistra leaves in half for bouquets.  I think that technique is really lovely, since it gives lots of volume and makes the leaf look like a beautiful, glossy ribbon.
I also found a spherical, green vase suitable for up to 3 stems.  Today, I put a pink tulip in it, but tomorrow I think I will try something less vibrant.  Unfortunately, by the time I got home, it was already dark, so my photos are not in natural light.  Nevertheless, I think some of them are quite interesting.

Week 1, Day 5:

I found these lovely red berries on a bush called Skimmia japonica in my front yard.  The container is a super small jar with a diameter of about 2.5cm.  I think this miniature "bouquet" adds a nice pop of colour to an otherwise bland room.

Week 1, Day 3:

For reasons unknown, my tulips are turning pink. Lucky me! It's like two flowers in one. I am already planning my next arrangements... expect teacups, twigs, buds, berries and crochet!

Inspired by the coming of spring, I wanted to bring tulips into my home.
